Money Badger
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 5, 2026
Last Updated: October 5, 2026
1. Who We Are and Scope
Money Badger LLC ("Money Badger," "we," "our," or "us") provides budgeting, financial planning, transaction review, account-connectivity, import, and related financial organization tools.
This Privacy Notice describes how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you use Money Badger. It does not replace the privacy notices of Plaid, Google, Stripe, your financial institution, or another service you choose to use with Money Badger.
2. Information We Collect
Account and authentication information
- Email address and account identifiers
- Password hash (we do not store your password in plain text)
- Email-verification and multi-factor-authentication status
- Session, login, recovery, and security-event information
- Preferences, settings, invite records, and consent or policy-version records where supported
Financial and planning information
- Financial account names, types, balances, available credit, institution information, and related metadata
- Transaction descriptions, dates, amounts, status, merchant information, and account associations
- Categories, categorization decisions, rules, budgets, goals, forecasts, income plans, and expected-income information
- CSV, Google Sheets, and Plaid import history, previews, mappings, and review decisions
Money Badger generally preserves imported source evidence and stores user corrections, categorization, and other interpretations separately where the product supports doing so.
Billing information
If paid services are enabled and you use them, Stripe processes payment-card and payment-method information. Money Badger does not intend to receive or store complete card numbers or card security codes. We may receive and store Stripe customer, checkout, subscription, invoice, charge, refund, dispute, tax, billing-address, paid-through, entitlement, and payment-status information needed to provide and administer paid services.
Communications and research
- Support requests and related communications
- Feedback, surveys, product suggestions, and bug reports
- Information you provide when reporting or helping investigate a security or product issue
Technical and usage information
- IP address, browser, device, request, and session information
- Authentication, security, fraud-prevention, and administrative audit events
- Application, infrastructure, integration, and error logs
- Feature-use counts, onboarding progress, system health, import activity, integration status, and aggregate or de-identified product metrics
3. Plaid and Connected Financial Accounts
If you connect an account through Plaid, you direct Money Badger and Plaid to retrieve and process the financial-account information needed for the features you request. Depending on the connected institution and enabled Plaid products, this may include account and institution metadata, balances, transaction history, transaction updates, and connection-health information.
- Money Badger does not receive or store your online-banking username or password.
- Connected data may be refreshed while the connection remains active.
- Disconnecting Plaid stops future access through that connection but does not automatically delete transactions or planning data already imported into Money Badger.
- Plaid and your financial institution process information under their own terms and privacy notices.
4. Google Sheets Data
If you connect Google Sheets, Money Badger uses Google OAuth and requests read-only access to spreadsheets you authorize. We may read spreadsheet metadata, tab names, and cell values needed to preview and import the transaction data you select. We may store spreadsheet identifiers, selected-tab mappings, OAuth credentials, import records, and imported transaction data.
Disconnecting Google Sheets revokes or removes the Money Badger connection and future access. Previously imported transactions and related import history remain unless you separately delete them or delete your account.
Money Badger's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. How We Use Information
- Provide, personalize, and maintain budgeting, planning, importing, categorization, reporting, account-connectivity, and billing features
- Authenticate users and protect accounts, integrations, and transactions
- Operate imports, synchronization, customer support, and service communications
- Process subscriptions, entitlements, invoices, taxes, cancellations, refunds, disputes, and payment recovery when paid services are enabled
- Monitor reliability, investigate errors, prevent fraud and abuse, perform security testing, and respond to incidents
- Understand aggregate product use and improve the service
- Enforce our agreements and comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations
6. How We Disclose Information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use financial or Google Workspace data for targeted advertising.
We may disclose information:
- To service providers that help operate the application, such as Plaid, Google, Stripe, email delivery, cloud hosting, managed database, cache and rate-limiting, monitoring, logging, backup, and security providers
- To authorized personnel, contractors, professional advisers, or security testers who need access for support, operations, auditing, legal review, or security and are subject to appropriate duties
- When you direct us to connect, import, export, or otherwise share information
- To comply with law, legal process, or valid governmental requests
- To protect users, Money Badger, providers, or the public from fraud, abuse, security threats, or harm
- In connection with a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law and appropriate protections
Service providers may process information only for the services they provide to us or as otherwise permitted by their agreements and applicable law.
7. Cookies, Sessions, and Similar Technologies
Money Badger uses cookies and browser storage needed for authentication, security, preferences, setup progress, and application operation. We do not currently use advertising cookies. Disabling required cookies or storage may prevent the service from working correctly.
8. Retention and Deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain accurate financial and billing records, protect the platform, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and satisfy legal, tax, accounting, and security obligations. Retention varies by record type and may depend on whether your account, an integration, a transaction import, a subscription, a dispute, or a security investigation remains active.
When you delete your account, Money Badger is designed to remove active user-owned account credentials, sessions, preferences, financial accounts, transactions, budgets, categories, rules, income plans, import staging and history, and integration connection records. We attempt to revoke supported Plaid and Google credentials before finalizing deletion.
Some information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups until ordinary rotation, or may be retained where reasonably necessary for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, dispute, payment, or security purposes. This may include billing and refund evidence, security and audit records, detached feedback or survey records, and invite-redemption history. Retained information is not used to recreate a deleted account.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed for the sensitivity of the information we process. Measures include encrypted network communication, password hashing, access controls, multi-factor-authentication support, provider-token protection, logging, monitoring, backups, vulnerability management, and authorized security testing. No service can guarantee absolute security.
If you believe you found a vulnerability, contact us and do not access, alter, or retain other users' information.
10. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or information about our processing of your personal information, and to appeal or complain about a response.
- You can review and update many records in the application.
- You can disconnect Plaid or Google integrations.
- You can request or use available account-deletion tools.
- You can contact us to exercise a privacy right or ask a privacy question.
- We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. Requests may be limited where information must be retained for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, billing, disputes, or the rights of others.
11. International Processing
Money Badger is operated from the United States. Information may be processed and stored in the United States or other locations where our providers operate. Those locations may have data-protection laws different from those where you live.
12. Children's Privacy
Money Badger is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly permit individuals under 18 to create accounts. Contact us if you believe a minor provided personal information.
13. Changes to This Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice as the service, providers, or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the application, by email, or through another reasonable method. Where required, we will request consent before materially changing how previously collected information is used.
